5 Tips for Traveling with Kids!

Hey Dads and Moms!
Sean Flac here just returning from Florida with a few tips with traveling with kids. As much as we love our kids, traveling with them can be a real pain. We've traveled twice with the baby and the big boy and here are a few things we learned.
Tip #1. IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO GET THE SEAT FOR THE BABY, DO IT!!

Most economy class seats are pretty small and have little leg room. This makes for an uncomfortable plane trip for the parent with the baby and the baby. You don't want to get to your destination with a sore back or numb butt. If you can't afford a full plane ticket think about upgrading to a seat with more leg room. Every inch matters!
Tip #2. PURCHASE GOOD LUGGAGE!!

When we first took the kids on a plane we kinda slapped some luggage together. A mixture of duffel bags and some old luggage. We got through but it was kind of a nightmare. For our birthdays my in-laws got us some new luggage. It made our second trip with the kids a whole lot easier. Things were more organized and when we moved through the airport things sat easier together making the connecting flight transfer flawless. Also get the bags for the Stroller / Car Seat, it makes it easier to spot and give them some moderate protection. Invest in some good luggage!!
Tip #3. PACK A CHANGE OF CLOTHES FOR THE KIDS AND YOURSELF ON THE PLANE!!
So on the last leg of the trip during take-of,f the baby puked all over himself. Well since he was a lap infant guess where else we puked, all over us. (See Tip #1 to help prevent this) Well we had a change of clothes for the baby but didn't have any for us. We cleaned up the best we could but for the most of the flight I was covered in baby puke. P.S. We saw the puke bag stuffed behind the magazines after the fact. :(
Tip #4. CHECK CARRY-ONS AT THE GATE FOR YOUR FINAL DESTINATION!!
I love this one, check with your airline but American Airlines allows you to gate check your carry-on for your final destination. This is awesome especially if you have a connecting flight. Less things to drag though the airport and less to deal with while on the plane.
Tip #5. GET THE CONDO!!

We prefer condos over hotels because most of them have a washer and dryer in the units. With kids this is clutch, you don't have to pack as many clothes and if they do have accidents you can just throw the dirty clothes in the wash. Also you don't have to eat out every day, so you can save money there. Lastly having the kids in their own room to let the kids sleep in while you're getting ready or if you want some quiet time after they fall asleep or before they get up.
Well I hope the above tips help with your next trip on a plane with the kids. With every trip we learn what really works for us and I wanted to share some of the best practices here with you. Gonna end the blog with some of the good food we experience on this last trip. Thanks for all the continued support. Till next time...
